Bonorong Wildlife Centre

Conserving Tasmania's Native Wildlife

  School Visits

A school excursion to Bonorong Wildlife Conservation Centre provides an enjoyable learning experience, with stimulating close contact with our wildlife.

Our passionate wildlife keepers work with school students in our education program, encouraging students to respect and appreciate all Australian native wildlife. Our goal is to spark an interest in native wildlife within every child who visits the Park.

We can tailor your class  tour to suit your curriculum.   Ask our friendly staff when you make a booking to find our more.

Pre Visit Information

An appropriate level worksheet from prep to grade 7 will be provided upon booking. It includes fun activities and questions that children can fill out back at the classroom after the excursion, or as they walk around the park.

A visit to Bonorong Wildlife Conservation Centre is of greatest value if it is combined with a class project, such as:

  • Wildlife Habitats
  • Endangered Species
  • Camouflage
  • Nocturnal Animals
  • Feral Animals/Responsible Pet Ownership
  • Adaptations

Your Visit

Allow 11/2 – 2 hours for your visit. Our staff will meet your class when you arrive and give you some special food for your students to feed the Kangaroos and Wallabies. They will also direct you  to a position where your class will be based for the duration of your visit.

Keeper Tours

A tour will be arranged for your students to have hands on experience with at least two animals in the park (eg koala and wombat) whilst listening to the ranger point out interesting facts our wildlife. Let us know if you have been studying anything in particular and we will organise group talks, wildlife interactions and class activities to coincide with your school work.

Wildlife Food

Special food for the free ranging Kangaroos and Wallabies will be provided free of charge. This gives students the opportunity of close contact with the animals to observe their interesting features.
